When I just Googled “how much does website copywriting cost,” the first (non-sponsored) result read, “The average cost for website copywriting services is $25 to $25,000 per page.”

Helpful. 🙄

Of course, the cost of web copy will vary depending on many factors, such as:

• The amount of research required
• The length of copy written
• The skill of the copywriter hired

…But “$25 to $25,000” is not a realistic range for most business owners.

You need a more concrete number in mind when you start researching website copywriters.

I’m going to assume that if you’re reading this post, you’re probably an entrepreneur who cares deeply about your business (and therefore your website) — BUT you probably don’t have a bottomless bank account.

I’m also going to assume you’d prefer working directly with a personable, professional copywriter, rather than a corporate agency or a random freelancer from Fiverr.

If you’re doing the math, you’ll see that most of these creative copywriters charge well over $1,000 per web page.

Now, these are some of the best website copywriters in the biz, so those prices are on the higher end of the spectrum. Several of these packages also include additional deliverables, such as a brand messaging guide or SEO checklist.

That’s why I like to say (and my girl Ashlyn Carter agrees) that the industry-standard cost of website copy is about $1,000 per page.

Sound like a lot? It is…

Until you consider the fact that — depending on the cost of your own services — you could recoup that investment in just one booking.

Because website copy, when written well, is what actually converts customers online.

It can even be what attracts people to your business if it’s crafted with search engine optimization (SEO) in mind.
